Ann Voskamp always blows me away with the way that she puts this into images for me. I still remember watching a video about her book and realizing half way through that it was her speaking because of a certain way she said something…it is always so beautiful and lyrical.
Here are some quotes from the page linked below that really struck me:
You have recorded my trouble, You have kept a list of my tears. Aren’t they in your records? ~ Psalm 56:8
Today is recorded in the heavens and its pains are written with the wet of tears of God who ‘hurts with the hurt of my people’. – Jeremiah 8:21
You keep track of all my sorrows. (or wanderings) You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. -Psalm 56:8(NLT)
and an entry she wrote for (in)courage:
But who hasn’t been cheated on, talked down, lied about, pierced right through and left heart-broken on some beaten-down back road? There are a thousand ways to bleed, to nurse wounds and bitterness, and no one knows.
Words and ideology on a page are cheap. Grace and incarnating the love of Christ isn’t.
